Rebecca and Rich chose to celebrate at a beautiful venue that is quite familiar to Brett Matthews: Bridgewaters in the South Street Seaport of downtown New York City. “I had this picture in my mind of a white winter wonderland reflected on the windows at Bridgewaters in front of the NY skyline,” Rebecca reminisced when she recalled her vision about the way her wedding would go. “Mission accomplished 
.” Rebecca was glad that her wedding turned out to be proof positive that February can be a great time to get married, even in NYC: “We couldn’t have asked for better weather, or a better weekend. Everything was perfect and lovely and more than we could have ever dreamed of.”
Rebecca also explained the significance of some of her religious articles: “Since there were people we have lost that couldn’t be with us, we chose to incorporate them by using my grandfather’s tallis over the chuppah, by using Rich’s grandmother’s broach on my bouquet, and by using Rich’s grandpa’s kiddush cup. We also chose to honor those who have been influential and are still with us by using Rich’s grandpa’s tallis during the ceremony. It was very important to us to have a big enough wedding to include everyone who mattered and has shaped who we are, and small enough wedding to feel intimate and warm. We think we accomplished just that.”
